Meet Your Therapists: Ferda

Continuing our 'Meet Your Therapists' series with Ferda. Ferda has been a therapist at Gaia for just over six months and is passionate about holistic health with a particular interest in Chinese medicine and acupuncture...

How long have you been at Gaia Spa?
I have been with Gaia Spa for over half a year and I’m really enjoying my time here so far.

How did you come to work within the spa?
I came to work in the spa with the purpose of practicing Chinese Medicine. Gaia spa is a very holistic spa which is very focused on body, mind, spirit and it fits perfectly with my beliefs.

What’s your biggest achievement since joining Gaia Spa?
My biggest achievement are my regular guests and I have lots of recommendations.

What do you love most about working at Gaia Spa?
Gaia spa is a great place to work with beautiful surroundings where guests are gathering in different corners, we never have a dull day.

"I love looking after people, it fulfills my heart"

What treatment do you specialise in?
I will soon be specialising in acupuncture at Gaia. I will use acupuncture in my facial treatments, in my body treatments or purely acupuncture, depending on guest needs.

What’s your favourite treatment to perform?
I love all treatments involving acupuncture. Acupuncture works and helps your body to heal itself.

Tell us about your best or most memorable treatment experience...
Some of my guests have left my treatment room with no back pain or sciatic pain. Others feel better emotionally. I work a lot around emotions as they are a main cause of our imbalances.

What’s your morning routine before beginning a day of treatments?
I look after myself first, eating well and setting my goals for the day.

"I work a lot around emotions as they are a main cause of our imbalances"

How do you take care of your own wellbeing?
I get acupuncture and massages regularly as well as Chinese meditation.

Do you have any skincare tips you can share?
These are no secret tips but I really believe in the simple things, drinking lots of water and wearing SPF.

What made you want to become a therapist?
I have been a therapist for over 10 years. Firstly, I studied Physiotherapy and after experiencing Acupuncture I went to study Chinese Medicine with a bachelor’s degree. I love looking after people, it fulfils my heart.
