Introducing our new hair stylist, Lauren Johns...

We’re very pleased to introduce hair stylist, Lauren Johns to Gaia. Lauren trained in Plymouth before moving to London and working at Cobella, Selfridges, as well as training under Trevor Sorbie to become a wig specialist. Lauren recently relocated to join our team of experts here at Gaia Spa…

Tell us a bit about your career up to now…

In London, I worked for some big names such as Selfridges Cobella as Executive Director and Gary Ingham Salon & Spa as Senior Stylist. During my time in London I worked London Fashion Week doing hair for the catwalks which was a brilliant experience.

What’s your favourite thing about being a hair stylist?

I love being hands on and creative, hairdressing is ever changing and evolving – there’s always new techniques to learn. It’s hard to get bored as there’s always something new being launched. I love interacting with people…I am a very outgoing and bubbly person. I like to make people feel good about themselves and that’s why I trained to be a wig specialist.

Tell us more about training as a wig specialist?

I wanted to help people. I wanted to make people who have lost their hair smile and love themselves again. I trained with Trevor Sorbie, My New Hair at L’Oreal Academy. Trevor shared his story with me, about a close relative losing their hair through chemotherapy, that’s how he started out. His aim was to help clients who were going through terrible treatment to look how they did before treatment.

I wanted to help people. I wanted to make people who have lost their hair smile and love themselves again.

What’s your favourite service?

I have two! Hair ups because I can really get creative if it’s for a special occasion and doesn’t get done every day. There are so many different looks and techniques that can be used. I also love colour because it’s so artistic and I find it therapeutic. I love using the different techniques to create different looks. I love to achieve hair that looks natural and beautiful – glossy finishes, richness and vibrancy.
